I have a problem with some of the changes at WDW also. I’ve been going since 1973 and the “change” I’ve had the biggest problem with is when the eliminated HORIZONS. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way. I enjoyed the ride on the WEDWAY People Mover. I still call it that too!!!

Enjoyed the video. As it’s been said before, the only thing constant is change.

As for extinct attractions in the parks, I miss the gondola ride that allowed for a different perspective of the MK as you traveled from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, Horizons, World Of Motion, El Rio de Tiempo (Mexican pavilion’s original version of their ride), and the trees that used to be in front of Cinderella’s Castle where the statue of Walt and Mickey is located. I’m sure the trees were removed to allow better viewing for the castle shows and firework shows, but they offered shade on a hot day.

I thought it was funny right after the Narrator on TTA says this ride never stops, the ride does stop for a bit.

I think John said it best, change for the sake of change is asinine. Ok, so that’s not verbatim, but that was the just of it.
My absolute favorite extinct ride, hands down, is HORIZONS.

Luanne, the current Tiki Room is NOT rude or offensive at all! It’s just mere harmless self-parodying.

You just need to learn to see it that way and not get so gosh-darned bent out of shape.

As for the TTA, there’s nothing wrong with the new narration either. Look at it is being a throwback to the old ORAC-1 Commuter Computer narration of the 70’s/80’s.

Love the TTA even though my family still calls it the People Mover. My favorite extinct attraction has to be Horizons.

Yes, we rode the updated version of TTA last month. I to miss the old narration, the paging Mr. Tom Morrow was great. Thank you so much for my first edition signed copy of Crush It! Very cool the way you give back, I am so thankful. I miss Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, I have great memories of it as a kid. I guess I’ll have to make my first trip to Disneyland so I can relive my memories. Keep up the great work and keep smiling!

Good video and discussion on the TTA. It even adds to it to leave by evacuation. Definitly worth it for the fast pass!

While I wonder what ever happened to Body Wars (and why that pavillion is still empty) I have to say that I miss 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea because I remember it so vividly from my first visit in 1972.

Rick – Thank you (and Gary) for the copy of Crush It! It is great to read something that comes from the heart and oozes the very passion he preaches.

That is a great way to see the ride, I like that the lights were on at the Space Mountain part so you could see. Can’t wait for that ride to reopen. We went on the TTA in September ‘08 and we did get stuck, however it was only for a few minutes and we did not have to walk off the ride. I always like TTA though, it is so nice to get out of the sun or rain and rest my feet. Mr. Toad’s was one my favorite ex ride’s at the Magic Kingdom.

Great video as usual! I didn’t get to ride the TTA last fall when we were there – I will definetely add it to my list of “Must-do’s” for the next trip. I’ll have to watch your previous video of it, since I don’t remember much about the narriation from the last time I was on it. I’ve been lucky and have never walked off a ride, although I had some friends that had to walk off Rockin-Roller Coaster – took her awhile before she’d gt back on it.

I actually have two favorite extinct rides – Time Keeper with Robin Williams and Rhea Pearlman, they were great. The other is Food Rocks, which is where Soarin’ is now….it was so much fun with all the rock stars of yesteryear. My grandkids had a ball in that one.

Great video Rick! I don’t really have a favorite retired attraction. I’ve only been a few times in the past 10 years and I can’t really think of anything that I miss that much that has been retired. However, seeing your video makes me miss the old TTA spiel. I hope it comes back soon.

Well I am sad and I will definitely miss the old narrator. I have some great memories riding the TTA with my newborn while the kids and hubby rode Space Mountain.
I haven’t been going to WDW long enough to have had any of my favorite rides close yet. Not looking forward to that time either especially with my level of disappointment over something as so simple as the change in a narrator on a ride. I may have real issues…hahaha
Thanks so much for bringing this video to us. I was really curious what the changes were and you answered any questions I had.

I totally agree with John. Horizons! (bring it back!) Followed by Mr. Toad and The World of Motion are my favorite extinct attractions. I’d love to see them all back.
I just love the irony that the ride (TTA) stopped moving moments after the announcement in the sound track that the ride never stops. I do love the ride anyway, and I hope the old or better narration comes back. I was able to view the “bones” on SpaceMountain on one ride. The lights wewre on, and we go a little video of it too.
I love the ride videos. Keep them coming.

What a surprise ending to this week’s video but it was fun!

My favorite extinct attraction would be the submarines at the MK. I’m so glad I experienced them the first year I visited because they were gone the next year. I did get to see the new version at DL in April so it brought back memories.

Great episode Rick! The TTA is always a must do for my wife and I. It’s nice and relaxing on a hot day. When the park isn’t busy, sometimes we ask to ride around twice and the Disney TTA castmembers almost always oblige us. We rode it a couple of weeks ago after the refurb and like you, we do miss the old audio speil. I think we’ll get used to the new speil eventually because honestly, we just ride it to get off our feet for awhile and cool off. As far as extinct attractions, I’d have to say I miss Horizons the most. There was so much to see that you could ride it over and over and never get tired of it. I’m also not a big fan of Mission Space which is another reason why I miss Horizons.

Just stumbled on you and wow, what a great site! TTA has been my favorite ride in Magic Kingdom for years. I was very nervous when I heard it was getting shut down so I’m happy to see it back and thrilled you took us for a ride! As for the narration….leaves me flat. We were stuck on the TTA last Spring, and told there is a rubber sheath that hovers over the magnet track. Sometimes, more frequently lately, it has been getting stuck between the magnets and someone has to manually pull it out. Can’t wait to see more! <3 intercot!

Thankyou for another great episode this week! My family have always loved the TTA – it is part of our family ‘tradition’ when visiting WDW we have to go on it on our first day at the Magic Kingdom! I dont find the new narration offensive, but I do think its a bit too energetic!! I have always viewed the ride as a relaxing break, so the new voice being quite excited doesnt fit in with how I would picture relaxing around the top of Tomorrowland, and of course my biggest regret is they took out ‘Paging Mr Morrow…’ Such a shame! (Lets hope they bring it back like you say with the Space Mountain refurb being finished)
As for extinct things….well I miss alot of the parades when they change or are removed – especially Tapestry of Nations from Epcot and Stars in their Motor Cars parade at Hollywood Studios – which had characters in it that you dont get to meet like Sweetums and Bear (from his Big Blue House!)

I agree the old narration was better, mainly because it was entertaining. This new one has no flavor. Another upgrade that I despise is the change in the Tiki Room. That is horrible now. I think the loss of Mr. Toad’s Wild ride is the one I miss.

Hey Rick and John, It was an interesting video. The TTA seems like a great ride to take a break from the sun or to rest your feet.

Rick–I received the book “Crush It” today. Thank you very much. I will start reading it soon.

My favorite extinct attraction–I had to think about it for a few minutes. When I was 9 years old I was at Disneyland. I remember paddling a canoe across the river(?) or moat to Tom Sawyer’s Island. I didn’t like the guide who was instructing us how to paddle the canoe. I thought he was kind of a smart alek. So, as we approached the dock I reversed the direction of my paddle causing water to splash all over the guide.

The TTA was not in operation when I was there in early september sorry to see that they changed the narration. I miss 20,000 leagues under the sea.
