Hi Rick, Loved the island tour. My favorite beach is Ludington State Park here in Michigan. Take a float down the river then sun at the mouth of the river for hours until sunset. Only rivaled by the one down in the keys. Keep up the great episodes. Love it!!!!!!!

Hi Rick! Awesome video of Castaway Cay!! Am thinking of a Disney Cruise in the next year or two and always wondered what kinds of things are on the island.

My favorite beach is Rehoboth Beach, DE! It’s the closest to me (about 3 1/2 hrs away) and I have a good friend from college who lives 3 miles from the beach.

    Thanks again!!

    Hi Rick!

I’m not much of a beach person…. maybe I just haven’t met the right beach yet? (Haha) I hope you have a great time with your wife on Fantasy’s maiden voyage! I still haven’t been on a cruise yet.

ps. I say Caribbean just like you! There’s the POTC, that’s just for POTC, which is different than the way I say the location. 🙂

    Hey Rick,
This is another great video. That island was very pretty. I enjoyed seeing the palm trees and the Caribbean Sea. My favorite beach is Coco Beach, FL. Do the Disney cruise ships have a “grand staircase”? I have never been on a cruise and I want to know. See you next week.

    Rick,
I’m with you for favorite beaches as Castaway Cay is our family’s choice. We took our 3rd and 4th Disney cruise this past October on the Disney Dream when we did our first back to back cruise. My wonderful wife was able to reserve a cabana on Castaway Cay and just had the most relaxing time. Our four children ages 13, 10, 8 and 3 spent the entire day in the water and we all had a great lunch at Cookies Too which we ate back in our cabana relaxing the whole time. The mini fridge was great having the cold drinks, fruit and towels was the perfect touch to a wonderful day.
And when the time came to leave it was a very difficult thing to do seeing that we could not have asked for a better day. Our family is looking forward to our 5th cruise on Disney in the near future until that time we have great memories of our Disney Dream….

I want to go on a cruise a Disney Cruise soon. Unfortunately I have only been to the beaches in Texas and only 3 times in my life so I really can’t say I have a favorite. I can say that the beaches in Texas really can’t compare to Castaway, it looks gorgeous.

Thanks for Sharing and have a great time on your Cruise.

Love that island. As for beaches we rent a house in North Myrtle Beach,Sc. for a week each Aug. We have been doing this family getaway for 25+ years. We average 10 people each year, kind of a mini reunion.

Another great episode Rick! Not to be anti-Disney or Florida but I, like Tammy above, like the beaches on the west shore of Michigan. Holland, Grand Haven and Muskegon are within easy driving distance. If you are not from Michigan head over to Clearwater Beach – reminds me of home.

Would love to see some more footage of Castaway Cay. Hope to get there soon.

Nice tan, Rick! Thanks for the tour! Can’t wait to dock there May 29th. Favorite beach is on the Jersey Shore – Ocean City, NJ. You gotta check it out!

I just loved this episode!! So much to do there and everyone looked so happy. OK: my favorite beach: The Contemporary Resort! Every morning, the beach welcomes me and my fresh cup of coffee, and I take a stroll to watch the sun come up over Fort Wilderness. And if the day gets very hot, there’s always a cool breeze from the water. I could go on and on. Thanks everyone!!

I was born and raised in Sarasota and Siesta Key is not only my # 1 but the experts as well. You do not appreciate it enough until you live away from it a few years then you realize how lucky we are to live in a place like Sarasota.

  23. Carrie Freistuhler says:

I’m not really a beach person but growing up my family would go to Siesta Key every year. My husband and I are more pool people and we especially like indoor water parks. We thought about a Disney cruise this year but are going back to WDW again instead.

    Hey Rick,

Thanks for the refresher on Castaway Cay. I have never been there but I think I will make it my favorite beach. I was born and lived most of my life in Seaside Oregon–right on the beach. The beaches in Oregon are breathtaking–beautiful blue/green water, green trees and forests right down to the beach, and long gentle sloping sandy beaches down to the waters edge. But the water is so cold! Even on the best summer days I seldom get wet above my knees.

Whenever I go to Florida I always have to go swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. The water is so warm. But Castaway Cay looks like a beach for me. Another really nice beach is in Hawaii on the Island of Kauai. It is called Poipu. It has a small beautiful lagoon with a sandy beach sloping to the waters edge. I went there many years ago on my honeymoon. The memory of that beach has always stayed with me even though the marriage didn’t make it.

Fry Sauce: It is usually served with French Fries and Tater Tots. I make it with Mayonaise, Ketchup, Horseraddish Sauce, and Garlic Powder. I don’t measure–I just mix a little of each at a time until it looks and tastes right.

Have fun on your cruise. See you next week.

    Bob

To be honest with you I don’t do beaches. but if I have to go to a beach it would be Daytona beach or the one on Castaway cay. but the beaches don’t interest me at all living here in New Jersey. Just to many people trying to fit in to a small space that is clean and the others have to much trash on them.but the Fla. beaches are cleaner. thanks for a great show hope to see you soon.

Finally got to watch this one this morning…so jealous! My wife and I will have to make a trip there sometime soon, if anything to recreate our favorite beach experiences from our Hawaii adventures.

Thus, I must vote Ka’anapali Beach in Maui as my favorite one. It’s not just the views, water, and resorts, but always the company you keep (my lovely bride) that makes a beach like that so memorable! Hence, the magic of Disney…always making memories!

Wow 27 comments before me. Looks like the dangle of the Mouse ears really worked. I do not have a pair yet, by the way.;)

I don’t really have a favorite beach, but I do love the beaches with very fine sand. Beaches near me are too full of rocks and shells. And I do love the color of those Caribbean waters, so I guess my favorite is in there somewhere, still waiting to be explored by me.

    Hi Rick,
Sorry but I’m still not sold on a cruise. I guess I’m a coward but I prefer
dry land. I would like to just go on a tour of one of the ships though just to take a peek like if it was docked somewhere.

    Hi Rick,
I was wondering does Cataway Cay get too busy when the newer bigger ships arrive than when the Magic goes there?
