Great video Rick. California Screamin looks like a great ride! I HAVE to get out there and ride it some day. As far as the DCA renovations, since I’ve never been to California, I don’t have much of an opinion as to what they need there, but I figure almost all renovations are a good thing. The only exceptions would be Horizons/Mission Space and World of Motion/Test track. In both these cases I prefrred the original rather than the replacements. Scºoºtt

California Screamin’ looks awesome! Can’t wait to get to California to ride it. I’m really anxious to see all of the changes to DCA and will hopefully get to experience them on a future trip to the west coast.

Thanks Rick for the great videos! Looking forward to another great year of Travel With Rick!!

You are amazingly steady with that camera, that’s what I’m talking about, very cool!!!! I am looking forward to someday visiting Disneyland and experiencing California Screaming myself, but that video made my stomach go into my throat a couple of times, sweet!!! I am most looking forward to Cars Land, I think that with be very neat! In the meantime I’m going to keep smiling and keep watching! Take care!

Sorry I hit the cap lock button by mistake and everything went haywire.

I didn’t finish my sentence above, so I appoligize for the double post.

But to answer the question of the week, I wasn’t aware of the new attractions planned for Disney Land, but I am a big dark ride fan, and love the Little Mermaid, so I would be thrilled to see that in person, but I would settle for a video as soon as that is possible. Love the show. 🙂

  7. HOLY Smokes. That’s a long coaster. My daughter was squealing with laughter just watching the video of it. Must make a trip out to DisneyLand!

What a great episode, and attraction! Thanks so much for letting me be a part of it on both coasts.

As for the question of the week, I’m actually most excited about World of Color I’ve realized. I think it only has the potential to turn DCA into a full day, nighttime park. Really excited to see it this spring!

LOVE ROLLER COASTERS This was great fun to watch. This coaster was a combination of 3 different coasters we have here in Texas at Six Flags but a whole lot better. As for the renovations at Disneyland, I have never been there so I really don’t have any clue what impact it will have on the Park but some of the info I have read about it sounds really great.

    Thanks again for the video

Great video! Looks like an awesome ride! Would love to get back to Disneyland as I haven’t been there since 1969. We always take road trips and we are much more comfortable driving in Orlando than we would be in LA. May have to try it sometime soon anyway.

I haven’t been to Disney World in CA for a long time, so have not really kept up with their expansion. But knowing Disney, whatever they have in store will be great!

    Hi Rick,

Great video! I can’t believe that you were able to hang on to your camera while you were video-ing. You are much braver than I. I was just at DCA back in August and saw all the work being performed on the Wonderful World of Color. Also, I was able to see the Blue Sky preview of it and thought it was amazing. I can’t wait!!!!

    Hi Rick,
I didn’t do this ride when I was out in DL in April;it’s way to scary for me! You are so brave to sit there with a camera!!!
There is going to be so much “new” at CA Adventure but I think the Cars Land will be the most popular. The Little Mermaid attraction sounds great too and it’s probably going to be like the Nemo attraction at WDW. The World of Color reminds me of Illuminations at WDW but it does sound fantastic.
I’m going to have to visit CA again and maybe this time it won’t be so cold!
    Have a magical day!

Hey Rick, That seems like a really fun ride. I didn’t ride it when I was at DL in March 2009. When the expansion is complete I would like to spend some more time at both Disney Land and California Adventure. I hope to see Aladin one more time before it closes.

Thanks Rick. See you in another video next week.

Really enjoyed this episode! It brought back my memories of riding California Screamin’. I still can’t believe I rode that thing. LOL. It takes your breath there at the beginning of the ride! So, about the DCA renovation, I think I am most looking forward to seeing what survives from the original version of the park. I might be the only person who honestly and truly loved the park in its original opening day 2001 form (*ducks from the flying tomatoes*), and I am very interested to see what remains. I do like the plans I am hearing about, and as far as those go, I think Cars Land sounds pretty cool. I really like the Bugs Land section of DCA, so another Pixar-themed area should be awesome, too. The red cable cars sound neat as well. This is off-topic but the Animation building is just tremendous in DCA. They had this zootrope (sp?) of Toy Story in there that was just amazing, I did a video of it with my digital camera on the spur of the moment and I still watch it over and over. Also the Beast’s Library and the area where you can add your voice to an animated Disney clip, and Turtle Talk with Crush is in there too… that place makes a day at DCA worth it right there. Okay I will stop blabbering, great video and thanks for all the cool stuff you do, Rick!

Thanks for the ride Rick and Henry! I’m sitting here at my desk, just a little queasy! LOL I’m not much of a roller caster fan, but if I ever make it to DL, I’m sure my hubby will drag me on that one! Hope my stomach holds up to it!

I don’t have any plans to go to DL for awhile now (previous plans fell thru), so WDW is my park! If I ever make it out to DL, I’ll be excited to see how much everything has changed from when I was there 20+ years ago!

Keep up the great work – love the video’s and of course your guest each week.

Wow! That really was some great coaster footage, Rick! This is now on my “must do before I die” list.

I think I most look forward to seeing Radiator Springs in the future Anaheim developments. It seems like it would be a surreal experience to feel like you’ve stepped inside a Pixar film.

Great video, I love that initial shot out of the cannon. Nice work on the camera! I’m glad they’re making some badly-needed renovations in California Adventure and can’t wait for a chance to visit again at some point. I’m most looking forward to the Disney’s World of Color show, but the Radiator Springs Racers also look like a lot of fun.

Thanks Rick & Henry for the video, pretty impressive video job there! I think I would have dropped the camera, lol!
I love coasters and wish they had this at WDW! I’m sure they could find a spot for it somewhere!
The last time I was in DL, there was no CA! So don’t know about expansion plans, I would just like to see it sometime.

Henry I love touringplans.com Great site. Esp love the crowd calendar. Won’t plan a trip without it. That’s my first step in planning my WDW vacay. What park I’ll be in each day. Then I can plan my dining! Of course the touring plans are great too.

  21. Howard says:

    Hey Rick,
Really enjoyed the video. On an upcoming trip to WDW am planning on getting lots of “POV” video footage of the attractions. How did you hold your camera? Did you have any special gear or techniques? I’ve been trying to think of how to do it well. It’s almost like you need two hands to hang on, and a third one to hold the camera! I’ve even contemplated figuring out some way to strap the camera to my forehead like a miner’s light! However, if I do that, I imagine my family would disown me. So I’m looking for tips or pointers that might not make me a pariah on our big trip.

    Thanks kindly!
