The winters in Orlando are rather mild so it’s not too cold to ride something like that, however you wouldn’t catch me going to a water park!

The summer only. We were down in June this year but we didn’t get a chance to ride this one this time around.

We would ride it in the winter, but the main thing is we don’t ride until we are almost ready to leave Animal Kingdom because if you get drenched it is too uncomfortable to walk around.

Looking forward to next weeks episode to compare the two ‘River’ rides.

    Enjoy.

    Hey Everyone
I ride that any time of the year. I make sure I take my sneekers & socks off, so they don’t get wet!! Love those exciting rides!! Super camera work, too!! Andy Cam! You rock!!!

OK I’m not sure Florida really has a winter. The last trip we made to WDW was in December and it was like spring time to us Texans so yes we ride the rapids in Florida year round. My son insists we ride because no matter what, I always get drenched and he thinks that is awesome….Can’t wait to see some video from your Costa Rica trip, your tweets of your trip were beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I would only ride that in the warm months. When I rode it was September, which was fine, plenty hot. However, immediately after riding we had an ADR for Tusker House and we were freezing in the A/C. So lesson learned – don’t ride it before heading into air conditioning. LOL

More often than not it is warm enough in winter to ride the water rides but if it is cool then you can use the old poncho thing (never do that in warm weather). My daughters (now 7 & 10) could not imagine a Magic Kingdom visit without Splash Mountain (btw last time we were there in cold weather the water cannon was off) no matter what the weather it is our first ride of the day.
Nice job on the Kali, this ride became a favorite of my now 7 year old, Shannon. When she was 3 or so and was just tall enough to make it on she was apprehensive as we got on the ride by the time it was over she refered to it not as Kali but “MY RIDE!” and she still calls it that today. When I told her I was going to watch this video and asked if she wanted to watch too, she said “My Ride”.

    Hey Rick,
Kali River Rapids is a cool ride. I do like it, but every time we ride it we get soaked. Last year, in 2011, we chose not to get on it. I will not ride it in winter, even in Florida’s winters are mild. I really don’t like getting wet in my clothing. See you next week.

    Hi Rick,
I would ride this fun ride only in the summer. If you don’t want to get wet just go through the line because this attraction has neat decorations that really should not be missed.
Another suggestion is to wear protection but then you might get teased and be called a “chicken”!

  12. Jennie says:

Love it! I’d only ride in the summer….UNLESS….the line was short! 🙂

  13. Dennis Conroy says:

Since we rode Kali back in February of 2002 getting soaked then being cold and uncomfortable the rest of the day we usually skip this attraction now!

Although after seeing this weeks video it may be time for us to give it another try! Which water ride is your favorite Rick? Kali or Grizzly?

Keep the great vidcasts coming, enjoy them each week!

    Hey Rick,

I love this ride. Thanks for taking me along. I would ride this ride anytime the temperature is above 80 degrees.

Looking forward to next weeks video.

I love rapid rides. I have rode Grizzly River Run once before in 2008. That was the last time I had a chance to go to Disneyland Resort. I saw the Parade of Dreams that time. It was at night but, WOW! JUST AMAZING! You have to be a people person (a person who love people) to be in a parade for everyone’s entertainment and make everyone feel like they are all one giant family. Too bad I may not ever get another chance to go back to Disneyland Resort. I have never been to Walt Disney World Resort either. Since I am a Christian and more involved in God work, I may not even have time to go. I would love to, though. Keep the videos coming.

Great ride video, with our newer 2 y/o when have been spending most our time in Magic Kingdom the last 2 years, now I think it’s time to venture back to AK

I would be a Summer time rider (here that is 10 out of 12 months per year)

We went one year in November and a cold front came through, upper 50s, and we decided to ride it. I am just glad that it was my husband that got dumped on.;) Needless to say, it was our last ride of the day!

Going down for Thanksgiving, I’m sure my five children and husband will ride everything, it’s going to be our first time, and my kids are in the 20’s and late teens!

This is a GREAT ride anytime. When the weather is colder, wear a poncho before you go and you’ll stay dry and have a smile on your face all day long. Make sure you tuck the poncho under your “rear” because the seats usually fill up with water.

I love the Kali River ride. I remember wearing a poncho and still getting totally drenched. Great ride.
Once again I’, too late for the question of the week. Gotta read emails more often. I’m missing good stuff!
