I really like this week’s Question of the Week. For my Favorite Mountain of Disney, it’s a close call between Splash Mountain and Expedition Everest. While Everest is the most attractive roller coaster I’ve ever experienced (you really do get the feeling that you’re traveling through a mountain), I give Splash Mountain the nod as my Favorite Mountain of Disney. Splash Mountain is a complete attraction that really immerses you in the story and the fun. It’s a long ride (even longer if you get stuck for 45 minutes on the last hill, as my family once did). Even though Splash Mountain seems to be a family-friendly Disney-themed experience, it has some legitimate thrill-ride moments with its many big drops. It’s just an incredible attraction.

My favorite mountain is hands down Splash Mountain. I love the animatronics and the story and songs. I love to watch the expressions on the faces of the kids when they go down the big hill. I also love the hidden mickeys, especially the profile at the top of the big drop. Great video of Matterhorn, I haven’t ridden it in many, many years and love the updates. Take care and look forward to your next video clip.

    Hi Rick,
Thank you for this video. This is one attraction I did not go on while at DL.
Splash Mt. is my favorite because I love the story and the songg and love going down to get cooled off on a hot summer day.
    Have a “grrr” reat day!

Loved the Matterhorn! Hopefully some day I’ll be able to visit Disneyland and ride it myself. Matterhorn somewhat reminded me of my favorite Mountain – Big Thunder Mountain! Big Thunder is a different experience each time I ride it…especially at night. Big Thunder was my 1st “roller coaster” of sorts, so I also enjoy it for sentimental reasons also. Since then I have conquered all the coasters in WDW, but Big Thunder is still my favorite.

Can wait to see a video from the cruise! It will be another year before I can be in my magic place, so watching your videos each week takes me there in the meantime……Thanks Rick!

The Matterhorn at Disneyland look fun. Kind of like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in terms of intesity. My favorite mountain is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad because it is a train. I am a hugh rail fan. And I like the theming of the attraction.

BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN was a lot of fun for my son and I since he is just starting his love of roller coasters. This weeks video was fun I wish there was one like it at WDW it would be great for beginner roller coaster riders.
Can’t wait for the live Ustream from the cruise ship, that is what we are planning for our next vacation.

The Matterhorn looks like a lot of fun. I will definitely be riding it when I go to DL. My favorite mountain at WDW is Splash Mountain. Love the Song of the South storyline and characters, and the music sticks with you for hours after you get off the ride.

    Have fun on the cruise!!

That looks like FUN! I hope I get a chance to go to DL some day. I need to win a trip!! My fav Mountain is also Splash Mountain. I just love everything about it. One time, when we came out to go down the last drop, it was pouring rain! I think we got wetter from the downpour than the actual splash. Zippity doo dah, Zippety day…
Thanks for another great video Rick,
    Jeanne

I love the DisneyLand videos. It’s the only way I get to see those rides. Materhorn looks like fun.
My favorite WDW mountain is Thunder Mountain. It’s fast enough for a little thrill but with enough visual excitment to keep riding again and again. Love those Dino bones. 🙂
I hope you are planning the videos you’ll take when the new FantasyLand opens. I love new attractions, and I’m so curious what these new rides and things will be like.
Thanks Rick, for the little weekly slice of Disney.

Very cool video Rick. I think by far my families favorite mountain is Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We had a birthday celebration pass the day and my daughter and I rode Expedition Everest 7 times in a row and got to sit in the front car everytime. We had a blast.

My favorite is The Matterhorn. I do it every time I’m at Disneyland. I don’t care how long the line is. There is no Fast Pass for it. The best thing to do is start talking to other people. It makes the time go faster.

Hey Rick, When I was a lot younger I loved The Matterhorn. It was fast, fun, and a little scary. I rode it about a year ago. It was fun but kind of jerky and made my neck a little sore. My favorite Disney Mountain–it’s a toss up between Expedition Everest and Splash Mountain.

Expedition Everest is a great roller coaster ride. But I also like all of the interesting decor to look at as you are waiting for the ride. Splash Mountian is a wonderful story and a fun ride. Riding it inspired me to read the stories about Brer Rabit. Now that ride has just that much more meaning to it.

Thanks for your videos Rick. I look forward to seeing them every week. Watching your videos always gives me something to look forward to and to hope for–my next trip to Disney World–whenever that will be.

Expedition Everest, hands down. Best themed mountain and most exciting ride.

Thanks for the video, Rick. My favorite mountain is Splash Mountain. It’s just the ride for a hot day! I also love the story/theme it tells. Thanks!

Fave mountain is Expedition Everest …. if you can consider that a mountain! Love that ride…think it is one of the smoother roller coasters…but if I have to pick a “mountain”…it would be Thunder Mountain Railroad! Thanks, Rick!

Hey! I recognize the sound of laughter in that video! This was an awesome coaster….I liked that it has so much history with it. Even though it is “old school”, the attraction is still very much there.

Without a doubt, Space Mountain is my all time favorite “mountain”! I just love looking up into the night sky, seeing all the twinkling stars. It really feels like you are out in space, especially after the refurbishment last year.

My fav mountain is a toss up between Everest and Rock n Roll Coaster! I go mostly to WDW, haven’t been to DL since the early 80’s. But I loved going on The Matterhorn. So it was fun seeing it again!

    Great Video Rick.

Love to see the differences between Disneyland and Disney World. They should have the same Yeti at both places..

Favorite Mountain would have to be Space Mountain. Nothing like a dark ride. More Roller Coasters should be in the dark so you can’t see the drops and such.

    Keep up the great work.

Great video Rick, thanks so much! Never been to DL but the Matterhorn will be a must do when I make it out to California. My family and I love Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain, I give the nod to Splash Mountain, but my boys love the “fast train” as they call it! Can’t wait for next week, but until then, keep smilin’ my friend!

Thanks Rick! I’ve been LOVING the Matterhorn for almost 35 years now! The fact that it has two separate tracks makes it kind of cool too. Slightly different ride experiences, and racing side by side with the other track’s bobsleds at times during the ride. Although I noticed the other track wasn’t being used when you filmed your ride.
The Matterhorn is also a very different experience at night. The Yeti really stands out more and it’s so cool when you slide outside the mountain and see the surrounding Fantasyland and Tomorrowland’s lit up.

Despite my lifetime love of this ride, my favorite mountain is now Expedition Everest, or as many say “the Matterhorn on steroids”.

We’re an East Coast family and so haven’t been to Disney Land (yet). So it was really cool to be treated to a ride on the Matterhorn. All of this said, anytime we get to The World, we need to get multiple rides in on Big Thunder. Its a great ride any time of day, and its certainly a different beast from early morning to late night Extra Magic Hours. Last time we had a great experience with back to back rides, courtesy of fast pass ! Love it.
