Hey Rick! I love this attraction. I can’t imagine how hard it was to get the “Rights” to all of those movies. I have only been to WDW twice so I haven’t seen any attractions removed but I sure would have liked to have gone on the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. From the archived pictures it looks really cool.
Thanks for starting my Friday off great and have fun next week!
P.S. I would love to see a video of Flights of Wonder; I missed it when we went in 2007.

Thanks for showing The Great Movie Ride! I love that ride!

My favorite attraction that is no longer at wdw is Alien Encounter. I know that it was very contraversial, but my family loved it! Yes, it was a little scary and I would never bring a small child on it, but it was nice to have a teenager type ride in MK. My family is a bunch of thrill seekers, so Alien Encounter was great for us!

    Have fun this week!

Thanks for another great video. I remember when the kids were little, going through the Alien section. They curled up so tight against me!! To be honest here, my son STILL complains going through Wizard of Oz!!! He’d rather go through Small World all day than that part of this ride……..

I so miss Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride!! I remember laughing so hard on that ride. I wanted to go on it in Disneyland last summer BUT the 45 min wait (and no FP) didn’t allow it!!

    Another great video Rick!

My favorite attraction that is gone would have to be Skyway. I loved taking pictured from a birds eye view and it was a great way to relax for a little while.

Keep up the great work on the videos.

I miss Millionaire, but I can’t wait to try Toy Story Mania that has taken it’s place in just a few short weeks. I was so surprised to hear my name at the end of the video as the winner of this week’s contest! What a great way to start the day. Maybe I should bet on a horse in this weekend’s Kentucky Derby here in Louisville. :o)

ABSOLUTELY LOVED the video! We really enjoy riding and trying to name all the movies as clips roll. My son rode this one with me when he was 6 (he’s 18 now) and I still laugh thinking about the Alien drooling on him – he sank in the seat so far!

I think the one show I really miss the most was Timekeeper – Robin Williams and Rhea Pearlman were so funny. The one ride I miss the most is the original Imagination – Figmet was at his best in that one!

Keep up the good work – I can’t wait till I see these every week.

  7. Loved the video… I think this ride is Disney Studio’s answer to MK’s Jungle Cruise… cheesy lines and all!

One of the attractions I really miss is the original Tiki Room. 🙂 It was a classic! I also never got to go to River Country or Discovery Island. So, I can’t say I “miss” them… just that I “missed” them.

Have fun at the World next week!

Thanks for another great video! The Great Movie Ride is always a “must see” attraction for us when we visit DHS.

The attactions that I miss the most are the ones from the “Wonders of Life”–especially Body Wars and Cranium Command. I really enjoyed them when they were open during my earlier trips to Disney.

Have a great trip to the World next week! Looking forward to your updates on Facebook.

I have to say that my favorite attraction that is not around is Mr. Toads wild ride. Even when I went to Disney World a few weeks ago, my dad still thought it was there. Enjoy Disney World, and get some good video of the Enchanted Tiki Room.

Thanks for the great video Rick!
This is a tough one for me because there are a lot of attractions that I really miss at WDW. Mr. Toad, Journey Into Imagination, World of Motion, Cranium Command, the original Backlot Studio Tour…but I think my all time favorite attraction is Horizons. That is greatly missed!

    Rick-
What a great video! I love the Great Movie Ride, makes you feel like you are in the movies the minute you set foot into the building.

The attraction we miss…hmmmm…My daughter misses Millionaire at Hollywood Studios; my son and his best friend miss Horizons at EPCOT. They even purchased a copy of the blue prints of the attraction!!!!

    Enjoy Saratoga Springs.

The Great Movie ride is great, thanks alot. We love going on it to see all the old movie scenes. Also, a great place to cool off when it’s hot.

As far as missed attractions that would be 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Wonders of Life.

We did miss the Carousel of Progress here in Ca. But now we look forward to see it at WDW. I think its great that you can go to Disneyland and see one thing than another at Disney World. They both have some of the same rides but a little different. Like the Pirates at disneyland has two drops and WDW haves one drop.

Enjoy your time at Disney. We’ll be there in 51 days. Cant wait.

Well another great video Rick. I really look forward each week to see what you will post.
I have only been going to Disney since 2004 so there haven’t been any closures of my favorite rides so I can’t answer this week’s question.
But I can tell you that these videos have been awesome and I have found that when my 2 year old is especially cranky I can play the It’s a Small World video and she will start smiling and singing and forget she was upset. Wow! What a sanity saver!
    Thanks for the videos.

I remember this ride when we went last summer, and it was awesome! We went there to get out of the heat, rain, and away from the high school musical parade.

The ride I miss is the original Tiki Room show, I know it’s still there in a way, but I really miss the old show. My boyfriend’s fav ride that he misses is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride he rode when he was real little, it was so disappointing that it was turned into a mostly uninteresting Nemo ride.

    Hey Rick,

Great video as always. I love Clint Eastwood also…Do you feel lucky…Punk! My favorite attractions that are no longer at the World include Alien Encounter (miss the scare factor), Highway in the Sky in Magic Kingdom, and Tarzan Rocks in Animal Kingdom. That music was awesome. See you next week.

Hey Rick! Awesome video this week- the Great Movie Ride can’t be an easy one to film. I love how the Cast Members interact with the attraction.

My favorite ride that is no longer at WDW has to be Horizons. When I was little, my cousin and I would ride it over and over because we thought it was so cool how you could pick your own ending! Second place would have to go to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

Looking forward to next week’s video!

Another great video. My daughter and I did this ride for the first time in June 2008 and really enjoyed it.
We have only been going to Walt Disney World since 2002 so I don’t think any of our favorite rides have been removed but I’m sure some day I’ll look back and miss something.
Thanks again for the great video and I look forward to the new one next Friday.

Loved the video this week Rick. TGMR is one we rarely miss on our Disney vacations.
Favorite missed attraction for me has to be The World of Motion Attraction.
I Love the omnimover rides and to be honest with you,it’s replacement, Test Track just doesn’t do it for me. It’s a long wait for what I consider to be a ho-hum ride. Looking forward to next weeks video. Have fun in the world next week. My wife and I will be there the following week so tell Mickey we’re coming soon and make sure to leave us some Dole whips! Scott

Great video once again! We love that ride! My favorite from childhood that is no longer there is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I was so disappointed when my wife and I went on our first trip in 2000, it wasn’t there any more! Can’t wait to go back in December!

The only thing I remember going to that is no longer there is Legend of the Lion King. It was a great show and my mom still talks about it.
Have an awesome trip!! Looking foward to more videos.

Hey Rick, Great Video! Looks like a great ride. I will definitely go on The Great Movie Ride on my next trip to WDW. Rick, How about showing a ride from the Animal Kingdom or one of the water parks? I can’t think of a favorite attraction that is no longer in operation but the last couple of times that I have wanted to see “Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln” the attraction has been closed for refurbishing.

Have a great time on your trip.

  35. James Bond says:

Another awesome video that brings back so many fantastic memories!

To expand on something Rick mentioned about Grauman’s objecting to Disney using the name of the theater: They were also unhappy about Disney using the theater’s image as an icon, as it were, for the Studios park. To placate the copyright and licensing objections of the lawyers, Disney built the Sorcerer’s Hat, which blocks the view of the theater as you enter the park, and effectively serves as the Studio’s icon.

The first time I ever visited a Disney park was Disneyland on Christmas Day, 1964. I was 13. The outstanding memory I have is, when our family was leaving at the end of the day, my dad said we could ride on one last ride, and my brother and I made a beeline for Mr. Toad. So that’s where my vote for Most Missed Attraction goes. Sorry, Pooh!
