The Opening Ceremony for the Magic Kingdom
Every Day thousands of guests travel to the Magic Kingdom right before it opens to see the opening ceremony. It is a grand performance in which the Mayor of the Magic Kingdom officially opens the park for the day as Mickey and his friends roll in on the Walt Disney World railroad.

Hi Rick, Love the opening ceremony. Even when we aren’t visiting the Magic Kingdom during the trip I always make a point of seeing the open ceremony. Take care

Wow! I have never seen the opening cereimonies. In fact I didn’t even know there was such a thing. I should know better it is Disney after all. We will be going in September so we will be sure to catch it. Do they have something like this at every park? I will be doing my research. Thanks again for the great video and my weekly slice of fun.

Love the video Rick! I also have not seen this show yet. It would be great if the Opening family could see this too! Hopefully they are Travel with Rick fans! Thanks for sharing this; it was fun to watch.

Hey Rick,
Thanks for showing this video. I did not know that they have an opening ceremony every day. It sure is uplifting. I wish I could wake up to the opening ceremony every day. Do the other parks have opening ceremonies or is it just the Magic Kingdom.
Thanks Rick. See you next time.

In all the times I have been to Magic Kingdom, I have not seen this. I was there before the park opened but then we were allowed to go down Main Street to the Castle and wait for the rope drop. It was a smaller ceremony, but fun.
I don’t know if it’s been that long that it’s changed or I’m not remembering it right, but it seems like everyone was going the opposite direction I expected. I thought the entrance was on the right, not left. ???

Hey Rick
In 2005 I saw the opening ceremony. I didn’t see it since. We might see it this year. Thanks for bring back memories.

Love it Rick! We are early risers, so my family and I have hit all the opening ceremonies, so much fun! Thanks for the video, this ceremony brings tears to my eyes after being with my family in WDW and I’m back at work! But I keep smiling for I know, I’ll be back!

I know, I’m behind, but I’m catching up today! This was great! I haven’t seen the opening in person yet with the new “talking” Mickey. What a fabulous use of the technology. So many kids are going to grown up think it’s the most natural thing on earth for this giant mouse to sing and dance and blink. My aunt always just told me he was kind of shy.

I have never actually been to the opening ceremony in all my visits, BUT we did catch it (sort of) when we stayed at Contemporary in a Kingdomview room back in 2006 one morning when we were out on balcony that morning. We could hear the singing and talking quite well and we could even see the fireworks that went off. Does this occur right at opening time, or does it come a bit later than the published time?
